CONTEXT
The company had identified inconsistencies in how pilots were scheduled, and needed to explain them to people outside the operation. Pilotage rules cover duty cycles, rest periods and rules that change from one jurisdiction to another, so the explanation had to simplify the subject without flattening it.
PROCESS
The style is flat vector illustration on dark backgrounds, with white icons and a yellow line that carries the eye from one idea to the next. The scenes were drawn in Illustrator and animated in After Effects over a single week.
RESULTS
The finished piece runs 2:55. It was made to be shown to stakeholders and public groups, so the scheduling problem could be discussed against a shared picture of how the work happens.
